Green tea is extracted from the leaves of the tea tree (Camellia sinensis) and differs from black tea primarily in the method of production. Black tea is obtained by fermenting the leaves of the plant, while green tea is obtained without fermentation, only by heat treatment of the tea leaves. Both types of tea are classified as genuine teas, which differ in composition, colour, aroma and effect.
