Hemp oil - many benefits and no intoxicating effects

Hemp oil is extracted from the seeds of industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa). When most people hear the word cannabis, the drug is the first thing that comes to mind, but few know anything more about this versatile plant. There are three subspecies of cannabis, in addition to the common or industrial hemp, which also includes Cannabis indica (Indian hemp) and Cannabis ruderalis.

Industrial hemp is versatile in the industry and its use is historically widespread throughout the world - for example, the world's most famous art painting, the Mona Lisa, was painted with hemp oil-based paints.

Hemp oil has no intoxicating effects. It is known for its low saturated fatty acid content and a very favourable ratio of essential fatty acids.

Hemp oil is green in colour and has a slightly nutty flavour, which is why it is also a popular gourmet addition to a variety of dishes. Because high temperatures destroy many of the useful ingredients or properties of this oil, it is recommended for cold cooking and as an addition to already prepared cooked dishes.
