Tulsi is an annual plant that grows to a height of one meter and has hairy branches, woody shoots at the base and red flowers. It is one of the most sacred plants in India, also known as "holy basil". All parts of the plant are used in the Ayurvedic diet, but the leaves contain the most active ingredients.

In Hindu mythology, this aromatic plant is considered to be the incarnation of the goddess Tulsi, who bestows her deity through it. In Ayurveda, the herb is often used as a tea and in Hinduism to worship Vishnu and other deities including Krishna and Rama.

Cosmoveda capsules contain tulsi leaf powder, which is finely ground below 40°C and is sourced from the organic regions of India and Sri Lanka.
