Shatavari is a perennial plant that grows up to 7 meters tall and has white fragrant flowers and red berries. It is also known as "Indian asparagus" and its name means "hundred roots" in Sanskrit (an ancient Indian language). The fresh juice and roots are used in the Ayurvedic diet.

The term shatavari also means "one who can marry a hundred times", indicating the herb's good effect on fertility. It supports reproductive function in both women and men. It is especially useful for women as it helps maintain well-being during menopause.
