Spirulina is a blue-green algae that has been used as a food for centuries- it was eaten by the Aztecs. They got the name "spirulina" because of the spiral structure of the cells.

Hawaiian spirulina(Spirulina pacifica hawaii) is the only species of spirulina grown more than 500 m deep in the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is considered one of the richest and most effective spirulinas known.

Use
