Guarana (Paullinia cupana) is an evergreen tropical shrub native to the Amazon rainforest. You can recognize it by its large leaves, white inflorescences and fruits - red or brown, the size of a coffee bean, which hide black seeds inside.

Even centuries ago, ancient Indian tribes were aware of the beneficial effects of guarana seeds - the Guarani (hence the name) tribe made juices and beverages from them.
