The tea tree (Camellia sinensis) also known as the true tea tree and tea bush is native to India. It grows to a height of 16 metres, but has been cultivated as a low shrub for many years. The leaves of the plant are used for tea. Whether it is used to make green, white, black, oolong or pu-erh tea depends on how they are processed. For green tea, the leaves are heat-treated to prevent oxidation.

Sencha green tea has a truly unique taste because the leaves are harvested early - between April and May. In Japan, it is drunk warm in the colder months, and cooled before drinking in the warmer months. The fact that more than 80% of all Sencha green tea is produced there is testament to the fact that it is the most popular green tea in Japan.

Use

Instructions for preparation: Pour hot water (70-80°C) over the tea bag. Wait 3-4 minutes. Sweeten as desired and drink.
